Mortise and tenon, yes, but held together only with a couple of staples in each corner. One corner had only one staple and a 1"x3" piece was broken out. I've glued that up and I think it will be OK. This is the door that my wife picked out, but the kid at the store loaded the one that was still wrapped and it had a number of flaws -- screen pulled out at one corner, cut further along the same edge, broken (but again gluable) at the opposite corner, and the screen side of the center push bar was missing about 3/4 inch of wood all the way across. Took that one back, you can be sure, got the one she had picked out and repaired it."
