"I have had this for over two years and I am quite happy with this model. I have owned several other space heaters, but this one is my favorite for the amount of heat and reliability.
The fan does make some noise, but don't all fans? The instant heat and oscillation are nice for taking a chill out of a room, sure warm up cold hands and feet and allow others to feel the direct heat when sitting close.
I mounted the heater on a "milk carton" type box with wheels so I can move it easily, as the recessed handle is poorly engineered. The box also puts the fan blown heat is at knee level. It does dry the air out, but Colorado is dry to begin with.
I run this about five to seven hours a day during our cold months, October to April usually, for my older Mom, who LOVES it hot and the heater and my Mom are still going strong.
Prior to this Holmes I had a "no name" heater. Within three months of its purchase it did quite a spark show, made lots of snap, crackle, pop noises and kicked the circuit breaker during its scary demise, . My wall to wall carpeting harbors the burn marks from the sparks. It was under "warranty", but would have cost more to ship it and believe it or not "have it repaired" than to buy a better name brand model. The manufacturer did not even acknowledge the possible fire had it not been for quick actions on my behalf.
Thus, the Holmes three year warranty is a big plus and one other Holmes product that did fail (safely) was promptly replaced with a new unit by a courteous person.
I like the cool touch feature, two speeds and thermostat. I have a metal baseboard that burns "small hands" quickly and runs continuously due to no thermostat controls.
All in all, I would recommend this for a bedroom or a medium sized living room, e.g. 12X15', as the footprint is too large for a bath."
